Flat Proof Tires Maintenance Guide

Flat proof tires have been established on the market for quite some time as the most preferred type of tires. That is because of their obvious advantages over regular tires – no risk of flats, improved performance and peace of mind needed to operate with the machine properly. As such, many people have found that there is every reason to acquire flat proof tires.

But when it comes to choosing the right type, one could get lost in various options on the market. At McLaren Industries we strive to make this choice an easy one by providing the best quality flat proof tires you can ask for. We design the tires by using the Semi-Pneumatic Technology, which integrates two major benefits. One is the special rubber compound used for the outside part of the tire for improved toughness and resilience. Two is the cushioning effect granted by the softened rubber compound used on the inside of the tire. Driven by the belief that flat proof tires should be built to last and to improve the performance of every vehicle, we have perfected the design of our tires so that they are the best you can acquire.

One thing should be clear: tires, even of flat proof variety, need to undergo serious maintenance from time to time. Only by doing this can you ensure that the tires are in optimal working condition and that they do not hinder the performance of the vehicle in any way. Even though flat proof tires are significantly longer-lasting than regular tires, it’s important to note that some basic maintenance techniques and common sense use can greatly extend their work life. Here is what you should keep in mind:

  • Always order the right tires – having flat proof tires that have not been specifically designed to fit a certain type of vehicle is going to reduce their performance. Consult with the manufacturer and make sure that the tires you are buying work with the vehicle you intend to equip.
  • Keep the surface tires will run on in mind – there are various types of flat proof tires. Some are designed with deeper tread, which is ideal for off-road application. Other tires come with no pattern and are intended for use on asphalt and concrete. In order to maximize the performance of the machine and not put the tires at risk, you need to assure that they are well suited to run on the specific type of surface.
  • Give new tires a test run – when you buy your flat proof tires, it is wise to test them on your vehicle first, before you use them for serious work. That way any defects or anomalies, such as incorrect sizing, will reveal themselves. You will then be able to take adequate action for replacing them.
  • Do not overload your vehicle – always keep the weight capacity of the vehicle in mind. Overloading it will cause wear to the tires and put them at greater risk during operations with the vehicle.
  • Clean tires after use – regular cleaning of flat proof tires is very important. Mud, dust and debris can easily get stuck in shock-absorbent holes and limit the functionality of flat proof tires. A good wash will prevent that and take care of the spoils accumulated on the tires.
  • Avoid risky driving – what is considered risky is skidding and zero-radius turns. These maneuvers, especially when performed on solid surfaces such as concrete, gravel and asphalt, can cause significant wear to the tires. The potential for damage increases with the weight, so the more loaded the vehicle is and the more of this maneuvers it is forced to do, the more wear the tires experience.
  • Keep tires properly stored – the best place to store tires when not equipped on the vehicle is somewhere cool and dry. Avoid exposing unused tires to direct sunlight or somewhere damp and wet.
  • Rotate tires – this is a well-known strategy, which you may consider. The idea is that you can even-out the wear on the tread by rotating tires on both sides from time to time.
Follow these simple guidelines to maintain your flat proof tires in top condition at all times.
