Backhoes evolved from the U.S company Wain-Roy who patented the hydraulic swing-frame digging arm in 1948. This firm created many innovations we know today such as the reversible seat. In Britain around the same time, JCB had finished their prototype hydraulic loader that would incorporate a rear arm with a 180 degree slew in 1953. The machines of these two companies shaped what we use today; backhoes like JCB and Case shape our landscape in a multitude of industries and environments. Nu-Air® Dirt Terrain Tires

The three separate compounds that combine in McLaren’s Nu-Air® range ensure that our Dirt Terrain (DT) tires fulfill these requirements, using the cutting-edge design of Semi-Pneumatic Technology™. Bound together with fantastic production processes, these attributes give the Nu-Air® range up to 5 times more working life than that of other tire makes, with outstanding traction. When the terrain gets dirty, DT tires keep backhoes moving.

The Nu-Air® range employ McLaren’s innovative, hybrid Semi-Pneumatic Technology™. This combines all the strength of conventional solid tires with the smoother ride of traditional pneumatics. Nu-Air® All Terrain Tires

To cope with the rigorous use of wheel backhoes in different environments, McLaren have produced the Nu-Air® All Terrain (AT) tire. This model runs smoothly with all our Nu-Air® integrity on hard-standing areas – though they are capable of operating off-road when required. The versatility that our Semi-Pneumatic Technology™ gives to AT tires make them a popular choice for jobs where the landscape changes in the course of work – saving the need for a change of tires or the need for two machines during a project. When the terrain changes, AT tires constantly perform.

Application: On and off-road; asphalt, concrete and abrasive surfaces combined with moderate rough terrain use

Our Wide Footprint versions are engineered to spread the load of the backhoe. This increases traction and further reduces vibration. The design can also be employed to reduce a machine’s foot-print, minimizing the surface impact of the tires without diminishing performance. This is useful on surfaces that are more prone to machine erosion, and need to be preserved as much as possible. Remember – tread softly, carry a big bucket!

Nu-Air® Rocky Terrain Tires

With all the great Nu-Air® attributes of our other backhoe rubber, the Rocky Terrain (RT) version is built to boldly go where no other backhoe tire has gone before. These McLaren RT tires are the heaviest duty a backhoe could possibly require using the durability and strength of our Semi-Pneumatic Technology™. If it’s not possible to operate in a landscape with these tires, then it’s no place for any machine to operate!

Nu-Air® Super Slick Tires

The Nu-Air® Super Slick (SS) tires are designed to run on hard surfaces with efficiency and durability. Using McLaren’s Semi-Pneumatic Technology™ the SS is designed for integrity of traction, smoothness of movement and minimum footprint wear on surfaces such as paving. For continuous hard-standing operation, these tires will far outlast treaded versions. For the ultimate asphalt performance for backhoes, SS backhoe tires are in pole position.

Economy Line tires are produced as an option for contractors with an extra tight budget, or for more periodic use that’s not so intensive.
