Skid Steer Tires

The first skid steer loader was very different from those of today (manufactured by firms such as Bobcat, Case, JCB, John Deere, Komatsu among many). It had three wheels (a castor at the rear) and a front-end loader designed by the Keller brothers of Minnesota in 1957 to help a neighbor clear out a turkey barn. The innovation that is still the main asset of the skid steer loader remains – the ability to turn within its own length, allowing it to work in the most confined of spaces. In the next year, the Melroe brothers recognized the potential and bought the design rights, also hiring the Kellers. Their company is the one renowned everywhere today for the Bobcat range. These amazingly efficient machines can tackle tasks from the cleaning of enclosed livestock pens to highly efficient snow clearance tasks. Their amazing versatility is further complemented by McLaren’s precision-designed Nu-Air® skid steer tire range and O-T-T track options.

Nu-Air® Dirt Terrain (DT) Tires

Nu-Air® All Terrain (AT) Tires

To cope with the rigorous use of wheel loaders in different environments, McLaren have produced the Nu-Air® All Terrain (AT) tire. This model runs smoothly with all our Nu-Air® integrity on hard-standing areas though is capable of operating off-road when required. The versatility that our Semi-Pneumatic Technology™ gives to AT tires make them a popular choice for jobs where the landscape changes in the course of work – saving the need for a change of tires or the need for two machines during the project. When the terrain changes, AT tires constantly perform.

Application: On and off-road; asphalt, concrete and abrasive surfaces combined with moderate rough terrain use

Our Wide Footprint versions are engineered to spread the weight of the vehicle and load; this increases traction and further reduces vibration. The design can also be employed to reduce a machine’s foot-print, minimizing the surface impact of the tires without diminishing performance. This is useful on ornamental surfaces that are more prone to machine erosion, and need to be preserved as much as possible. Remember – tread softly, carry a big bucket!

Maximizer Tires

Maximizer tires are a more cost-effective option alternative to our DT range. They have all integrity of the DT tread on a wider rim. So if your skid steer would benefit from McLaren’s puncture-resistant design, though use will be lighter or intermittent – these are the choice, providing 2-3 times longer working life than conventional pneumatics.

Economy Line tires are produced as an option for contractors with an extra tight budget, or for more periodic use that’s not so intensive. The range gives you the option to equip your machinery with the best tires that the budget allows while retaining confidence that your vehicle will keep traction and reliability, well supported by McLaren engineering and quality.

Nu-Air® Extreme Duty (XDT) Tires

For the most demanding of work environments, McLaren have taken the dependable tread design and toughness of the DT and made it EVEN tougher! The Extreme Duty Tire is exactly what the name says: the ultimate skid steer tire for the roughest conditions. This product has the technology for providing the maximum torque when needed. Some tires may be prone to separation causing tire-slip on the rim when confronted with great traction demands – the XDT is bonded to the steel to eliminate this possibility.

Air Monster™ Tires

The Air Monster™ is a wider version of the DT. This tire provides all the Nu-Air® Dirt Terrain ruggedness and a design with a wider tread. This extra rubber on the ground gives added traction, stability and an even longer operating life.
